Mindset– Training your brain to accept a healthy lifestyle is maybe the most important aspect of health. One of the first things I tell new clients is to throw away your scale! Don’t let a machine tell you how you feel. Instead, start focusing on how you actually feel, everyday. Did you wake up cloudy and sluggish this morning? Don’t just accept it, get to the bottom of it.
Sleep– Sleep with intent. Blue light, sunlight, noise, electronics, schedules, and routines really are very important to quality of sleep. Sleeping with intent means taking all these aspects and evaluating how they affect your rest.
Nutrition– Everyone knows nutrition is an important aspect to health. Epigenetic nutrition means you can not eat the same thing as your neighbor and expect the same results. You do not have the same DNA, you are different. Eat with intent. Eat carbohydrate for energy, protein to build, and fats to protect.
Hydration– There is no replacement for water, period. There is artisan water, spring water, faucet water, vitamin water, sparkling water, and many more… The type of water matters. Even the temperature of it matters as well. Artisan water is your best bet.
Movement– The world is becoming more and more stagnant and your body is always trying to find homeostasis. This means that your body will react to what you tell it to do. If your an endurance athlete you’ll probably start looking like one. If your a weightlifter, it will show. If you don’t move, that will also show, and moving will become more difficult.
Play– Be sure to always set time aside for play. We are in a time where society celebrates a constant hustle. Music, art, hiking, building, creating, hiking, biking, and reading are all common examples of play. Do what you like to do. If you have a hard time figuring this out try remembering what you liked to do as a child. You are still the same soul.
In conclusion, I would urge you to take ownership of your life. In doing so you will be optimized and so will your offspring. You may be the one in all your families history to change the game for the future.
